Solar and Wind energy is putting millions in the pockets of "Green" companies mostly owned or aligned with Al Gore and his multi-groups. Proven to be a possible future form of energy, our present technology isn't there yet. Our present leaderhip in office has done more to slow down or stop energy ideas and search than at any time in our past. The "green" they talk about is the Greenback's going into their off shore bank account.

Per kilowatt hour produced, nuclear, coal and natural gas are far cheaper sources to produce energy than solar, not to mention more reliable. When you add in the cost of operating a coal or natural gas plant on standby to back up fickle solar energy, solar becomes more expensive. Germany would have been better off spending all that wasted solar subsidy money on nuclear, coal or natural gas power plants.

As someone who is on Medicare currently, I worry every day about what Obama has done to it. He has taken $500 billion out of a program that will eventually go bankrupt. He has appointed a panel to approve procedures that are acceptable, and this has all been done with an eye toward cutting costs. If you need a knee replacement or perhaps heart surgery, and you are elderly, you may not get it. This happens in countries where they have socialized medicine like Great Britain and Canada, so your problems may not be over once you are on Medicare unless Obamacare is defeated in the Supreme Court.

I reject the author's notion that the Catholic church is the cradle of Christianity. Christianity existed for hundreds of years before the Nicene Council established what is now the Catholic church and then the Catholic Church used temporal power to quash the sects with which they disagreed. With Roman Imperial power behind them, soon they were the only sect left standing. The cradle of Christianity is Jesus Christ, not the foreign nation of the Vatican City.

You fail to differentiate between a religious organization which is not required under the ACA to provide this service and conflate it with organizations which perform a public service, employ non believers and accept taxpayer money under the auspices of a religious organization. Do you think that an organization should be able to follow the beliefs of say, Jehovah Witnesses, and seek to have blood transfusions stricken from their HC coverage because it goes against their religious beliefs? Wouldn't we be better to permit things with which we disagree and use the leverage of the pulpit to encourage proper execution of belief instead of denying the freedom of a non-believing employee of a Catholic hospital to gain access to a legal medical treatment?

Abortions are excluded from coverage in the ACA, as proposed by Republicans and accepted by Obama and implemented as an Executive Order, so you are misinformed.

Since 2000, the EEOC has interpreted the 1964 Civil Rights Act as requiring equal coverage of contraception and the courts have consistently supported it, and President Bush never opposed this governmental position. Even if this portion of the ACA is removed, we've been moving in this direction for a dozen years.

@ Chet--The Christian Socialist who wrote the Pledge of Allegiance did not find socialism an enemy of the Church or religion in general.
