AMAC has joined with the Free2Care coalition to oppose language that allows federal benchmarking of in-network fees for physicians and hospitals. The language, addressing surprise medical billing, was included in a version of coronavirus legislation. AMAC and Free2Care believe that benchmarking these fees would lead to price controls that could exacerbate the financial problems rural hospitals face and lead hospital closings and physician shortages.
