This legislation is broad in its definition of “assault weapons” and serves as an infringement on lawful citizens’ Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. It will not stop a criminal from obtaining the weapons it describes in the bill’s text.

Dear Chairman Nadler and Ranking Member Jordan:
On behalf of the 2.3 million members of AMAC – the Association of Mature American Citizens, I write to express our strong opposition to H.R.1808, the bill entitled the “Assault Weapons Ban of 2021.”
Out of a sincere desire to ensure a clear discussion on the topic of gun control as it applies to the citizens of the United States, we remind you of the text of the Second Amendment of the Constitution, as well as a recognized definition of the word “infringement” for your review:
The Second Amendment:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
A definition of infringement:
“An infringement is a violation, a breach, or an unauthorized act. Infringement occurs in various situations. A harm to one’s right is an infringement.”
Considering that the Second Amendment does not contemplate that the right to keep and bear arms should be restricted for any type of “arms” at all, including “assault weapons,” which this bill broadly defines as any firearm having a semi-automatic capability. Moreover, this legislation is simply an infringement on a lawful and mentally competent citizen’s Second Amendment right to keep
and bear arms. In this connection, the bill’s grandfathering current owners of such firearms is simply a hollow gesture, since firearms are eventually at some point in time transferred to a decedent’s survivors, gifted, or sold, thereby triggering the bill’s broad ban.
H.R. 1808 and any like bills only serve to punish the law-abiding citizens and infringe on their inherent right to self-protection and self-defense, as well as the enjoyment of recreational or sports shooting. Law-abiding citizens are not the danger in the first place. Moreover, such legislation, regulations, and laws mean nothing to a criminal – it only facilitates their criminal behavior because it in effect gives them an “all clear situation” when they assault or rob those without the means to counter and defend themselves and their homes. Hence, this bill, and similarly intentioned ones, will only impact the “good guys” and not stop a criminal from obtaining the weapons targeted in this bill.
We therefore request that the Committee and the House of Representatives as a whole, reject this bill and in those actions (i) honor the intent of our Founders, and (ii) support and defend our Constitution of which the Second Amendment is not an erodible component. We hope the Members of the House will step up and defend this constitutional right of Americans, and not wilt in this regard.

What people refer to as Assault Weapons, a misplaced label they are Assault style Firearm, they are Semi-Auto in their function, which means that you must pull the trigger every time you want the gun to fire a round. Semi-Auto firearms have been on the market for over 120 years, it’s only been 25 years since the first mass shooting. My QUESTION is: why there only extreme rare cases of mass shooting of any kind occurred, we have 100 years prior to that that Semi-Autos were available. It’s not the gun, it’s a breakdown of our Society, the lack of God, the lack of a family unit. When parents were told you can no longer Spank your children, we started seeing young people showing rude and aggressive behavior and thumbing their noses at authority. We have a drug problem in this country, yet more and more states legalize more and more drugs , the reason for this is the state and county Governments want the tax money.
When I was in high school, during Elk Season on Friday I would take my gun to school and leave it in plain sight locked in my pickup and after school would drive to where my father had set up Elk camp, the thought never occurred to me to kill another person.

“Assault weapon” (an inflammatory term totally made up by anti-gun democrats) is very simply ANYTHING a person might pick up to harm another! Period, full stop!
In the military, we simply referred to it as a “rifle”. But that term doesn’t work well for the anti-gun left, for obvious reasons!
Let’s all please try and remove this bogus term from our lexicon when discussing firearms, and call out those that do use it.
Assault weapons, truthfully, are generally one-person rifles that have a select switch to change from single-shot to full-automatic firing. But the dems have reconstituted the language so that an assault weapon is anything that will fire more than once without reloading. They lie through their teeth to make all of us criminals.
Most in the Biden Admin doesn’t know an assault weapon from asphalt. Trying to get our guns or limiting their availability is an unadulterated Marxist act. Not defending against their gun grabbing is a sign of abject weakness or a commie payoff! Strip any Congressman who votes for that bill of their job, their status, their benefits and send them back to their home state as a coward.
For those of us who believe the Bible, we realize that even the jawbone of an ass can be an assault weapon. Our founders, all of whom were not Christian, nonetheless relying on John Locke and others, acknowledged natures God granted us the right to self-defense. This sentiment is codified in the 2nd Amendment and includes our right to defend ourselves from would be tyrants and those who would abridge that right are would be tyrants!
Virtually every nation in recent history going back to 1900 that has become a dictatorship has first been disarmed. Bottom line: we the people have the RIGHT per our Founders to protect self and family. A legitimate government also has the right to call up a state’s militia in case of threat. The word militia has been deliberately denigrated by the left a “bunch of right wing extremists”. A militia is a group of citizens from 16 years up who may be called by the local sheriff or governor if there is a threat to the area. We are facing a leftist budding dictatorship that will stop at nothing to disarm us. There are already thousands of gun laws from the little details to outright bans on those firearms they “deem” as “dangerous” …. IE: a threat to their plans. (Spend some time on the ATF website sometime, where the gun laws are published) George Bush Sr. in his presidential acceptance speech, said out loud: “We must usher in the New World Order”. I listened to this speech. This isn’t a joke or a fictional story. This is hard cold fact.
Our Founders escaped a dictatorial country and literally pledged their lives, honors and fortunes to bring together a nation unlike any in the history of the world. George Washington said: “Firearms are the liberty’s teeth.” We are rapidly losing our nation…to many have been asleep for to long.

So, is there any action we can take?
First, assault weapon is an ambiguous label. If I raise my fist towards a person in anger, that’s assault. If I was holding onto, oh, let’s say a stapler, now it’s an assault weapon. As ridiculous as it sounds, anything can be an “assault weapon”! So far, assault weapon has been expanded from fully automatic to semi automatic weapons and that’s just the beginning. While AMAC taking a firm stance on the 2nd Amendment is a good thing, the majority of career politicians place their agenda ahead of their constituents desires. Jerry Nadler doesn’t care what we think and will always obstruct Jim Jordan or anyone else who does care. The driving force behind the continued assault on the 2nd is that it is the last resort safeguard against the Marxist tyranny that has already taken over the Federal and blue state governments. Gun control is about their safety, not ours! This is why the preservation of the 2nd is perhaps the most crucial fight of all. Without it, they will continue to shred the constitution until we are nothing but subjects of the New World Order! We have some serious cleaning to to in November!
