Dear Senator Marshall,
On behalf of the 2.3 million members of AMAC – Association of Mature American Citizens, including nearly 28,000 residing in the state of Kansas, I write to offer our support for S. 3718, your bill on which eight of your colleagues joined immediately to prohibit the importation of petroleum and petroleum products from the Russian Federation.
It is shameful that it takes an international conflict in Ukraine to pressure the Biden Administration to consider means to restore the energy independence the President took away, and that America enjoyed, when assuming office just 13 short months ago. The impact of rising fuel prices has negatively affected the lives of AMAC members living on fixed incomes to the extent where they are forced to make difficult decisions, like choosing between purchasing more groceries versus gasoline for their cars.
We also fully agree with your plan to “Unleash America’s Energy Independence.” It is critically important to our future that we immediately restart the Keystone XL Pipeline while removing burdensome regulations for American energy producers. Moreover, the ability to increase natural gas exports to our European allies that would aid in their efforts to assist the Ukrainian people. Equally important to restoring America’s energy independence is that the Biden Department of Interior reverse its blockage of new oil and gas leases on public lands. Undeniably, the need for restoring and increasing our energy independence has never been greater given the significant foreign policy failures of the Biden Administration.

Anything the US Government can do to degrade the economy of Russia is a big PLUS in my opinion. Putin has taken on the mantel of Adolf Hitler in his attempt to take over Ukraine. At the time, also thought the USA should have taken strong non-warlike actions to hurt Russia when Putin seized Crimea … it was clue as to what Putin’s long-term intentions were. And, of course, we have an idiot as POTUS to lead in dealing with the now potentially hostile moves that must be made to cut off the Ruskies global intentions to rule the World.
Drill, drill, drill in America. We have enough oil here and don’t need Russian oil.

I absolutely do not support the demand to prohibit oil imports from Russia. We’re already paying double for gas from when Biden “took” the office.
I’m not willing to pay $6/gal… Does that punish Russia or me?! We need to fix this by our votes which will bring back oil independence. Meanwhile, let’s look at the real reason Russia has invaded the Ukraine and get off Biden’s holier than thou bandwagon regarding the Ukraine. Both are dirty, dirty, dirty.

How does it feel folks to know that Beijing Biden is funding the war against Ukraine by buying Russian crude for the United States course that’s after he destroyed our energy independence!
Well look who is in charge of US Energy…I say get the pipeline work restart..Mayor Pete is a fool..like his boss…he cannot do anything right. So it’ll take a while to have it up and running. .much better than to wait…wait for what?? He who waits is left with nothing.
I favor the concept but what will the American people have the courage to do? As they say, freedom is not free. As our own fuel prices continue to escalate will we fail the test and give in or be willing to fight this dictator for as long as it takes? The war on terror is not over and never will be. Will we be willing to take a stand in our own country and vote out the tyranical democratic party this year and in 2024? So much to think about.
Biden used tree hugger money to campaign. Now he is “paying them back” by inflating gas and oil prices, literally at our expense. They think high gas prices will force everybody to buy electric cars. Guess what? Electric cars need electricity, you need gas and oil to make electricity. Wind and solar will NEVER be enough to provide the power needed. All the while we are buying oil from Russia and the money spent for it goes directly to fund the Russian war machine. Boy, that really make sense, huh?

Well, there’s one problem with that. If we don’t import from Russia our only other option is Saudi Arabia. Whatever happens (because Biden won’t open our own oil reserves) we’re going to pay a lot more. It may be impossible for many of us to afford to drive. I wonder what, or if Biden cares about that.
Wonder if it will turn out like the wheat boycott that shippers flip flopped owner of ship and wheat still ended up in Russia.Now if we could control the futures traders from causing price rises we might be better off.

I have thought for decades that the reason we use foreign oil is to use up their supplies and store more oil in the US. So, in the end, we are the only ones with any oil left. I think this is another one of those hidden secrets that the government does not want us to know about.
Biden spoke of freeing up oil from our “reserves”. That is the oil they are saving for a rainy day!
We need to be told the truth about what has been going on in Ukraine. I think Joe wants the government and his problems to go away.
