Veterans first

This bill recognizes and protects the American veterans who have sacrificed their health in service of our great nation. It protects the resources administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs that our veterans need and ensures these resources are not diverted to assist persons whose presence in our country is a crime.

May 27, 2022
The Honorable Steve Womack
3rd Congressional District of Arkansas
2412 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515

CC: Congressman Daniel Webster, FL-11

Dear Congressman Womack:

On behalf of the more than 2.3 million members of AMAC – the Association of Mature American Citizens, including over 7,000 residing in AR-03, I write to offer our support for H.R. 7637, the “Veterans First Act of 2022”.

Recognizing that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has rescinded a protective order (86 FR 42828) that was intended to reduce the spread of infectious disease within our borders, that persons crossing our borders are likely to increase the spread of communicable disease in any form, and that those persons and others near them will inevitably need medical care, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security has contemplated using resources from the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide care to persons here illegally, and thus reducing resources available to our veterans.

Your bill recognizes and protects the American veterans who have sacrificed their health in service of our great nation. It protects the resources administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs that our veterans need to restore, maintain, and improve their wellbeing. As American citizens, we must ensure that their sacrifice is answered with the best care we can provide. This is something we cannot do if these resources are diverted to assist persons whose presence in our country is a crime.

A larger concern is that any taxpayer dollars are going to support the welfare of people here illegally at all. Not only should VA funds be preserved for the needs of our deserving veterans, but funding from other agencies intended to serve and protect American citizens should be restricted to their intended purpose as well.

AMAC thanks you, Congressman Womack, and your co-sponsors, for protecting and providing for our brave and deserving military service members. We are pleased to offer our organization’s full support for H.R. 7637, the “Veterans First Act of 2022”.

Sincerely,
Bob Carlstrom
President

“treated differently”

Congress “fixed” and moved on from problem of retired pay being reduced in the amount of disability payment. They Claimed it was fixed. A disabled veteran with less than 50% disability still has their retired pay reduced. I am thankful that the greater than 50% came home and thank them for their sacrifice. In severe cases, percentage is not an issue but in the 50 % area, the VA is very vague and it seems the only way to get a fair evaluation is to appeal every request. That aside, I do not understand why veterans differently in this case. Many veterans with less than 50% were in the same combat or other situations, but by the Grace of God did not sustain an injury (physical, mental or emotional) of those who were severely injured. No disrespect to anyone. Thanks, Dave

ALL COMBAT VETERANS should pay ZERO TAXES of any kind.
THEY LAID THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR US and The UNITED STATES of AMERICA.
IT IS THE LEAST WE CAN DO FOR THEM. THEY EARNED IT. FORCE CURRENT CONGRESS TO MAKE IT LAW.
When it comes to giving VETERANS FUNDING to ILLEGAL ALIEN TERRORIST, THAT IS AN ACT OF TREASON.
