Governor Kathy Hochul of New York is formulating a plan to strip away the Second Amendment rights of New Yorkers in the aftermath of a 6-3 ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court in favor of the NYS Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. Hochul, hopefully only the interim governor, who assumed the gubernatorial seat after disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo stepped down, did not find the decision favorable. In the manner of a four-year-old child who is losing a game, she has decided that if she can’t win, then she will just change the rules.
After the confetti had fallen following her victory in the primaries, she signed a package of gun reform legislation that will hurt legal gun owners while only making New York a safer place for criminals. The legislation raises the age to purchase a rifle to twenty-one (the age to join the military remains at 18). It also introduces new hoops for legal gun owners to jump through to exercise their second amendment rights. The outrageous new requirements include 16 hours of classroom training, two hours of live range training, and an 80% written test score. But it doesn’t end there.
Following all the training and testing, one must then meet with a licensing officer for an interview. At that time, you will provide them the names, ages, and contact information for all members of your household. The next step is to provide four character witnesses from outside your household. These witnesses must attest that you are of “good moral character.” But who is truly the judge of good moral character? Terms like this are in place to make a review process impossible in the event the application is denied. In that case, how would one prove they are of good moral character?
If you manage to skate past the character assessment, you are now ready for the last step in this gauntlet – you will need to provide the licensing officer with all your social media accounts. The licensing officer will browse through your current and past posts to find any statements, photos or meme’s that could disqualify you from your exercising your constitutional rights. (Having second thoughts about posting those pics of Fido in his camouflage sweater?)
Hochul claims “we’re tightening the red flag laws to keep guns away from dangerous people.” But in places like New York City, most crimes are committed with illegally owned guns. Mayor Adams bragged about the NYPD pulling twenty guns off the street a day, which just reinforces how many potentially illegal guns are flooding the streets of NYC. And with the new cashless bail policies, criminals could just go home and grab a different gun.
The attack on law abiding gun owners is so off the mark it can only be about one thing: Control! As evidenced by her overreaching Covid protocols, Hochul loves the power to control the citizens of New York. In a press conference she was asked if she had statistics supporting the idea that legal gun owners were the cause for the violence in her state, to which she replied, “I don’t need to have numbers. I don’t need to have a data point.” Who needs facts, right? I know when I’m at the doctor, they don’t order tests. They just prescribe my meds based on how the doctor feels. If he thinks my blood pressure is high, it’s probably high and I don’t dare question it.
So, despite every hurdle being cleared and hours on paperwork, lessons, background checks, friends writing letters and social media scrutiny, it has been deemed that certain places in New York should be completely gun-free zones. These places include churches, Times Square, libraries, arenas, theaters, stadiums, playgrounds, polling places, parades, bars and restaurants, and privately owned businesses, unless they have a sign saying they permit concealed carry on their premises. It’s the equivalent of posting a sign saying “Unarmed People Here.” What a wonderful way to alert a crazed shooter to where the innocent victims are. Hochul would prefer citizens leave their guns in their oft-robbed cars while attending church.
I hate to speak in clichés but the only one who can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. If we are going to make it difficult for people to protect themselves, that’s one thing. But to make them sitting ducks is quite another.
Let’s hope for a massive turnout this year where we vote in a more reasonable and Conservative governor for New York. Someone who is less focused on stripping constitutional rights and more focused on offering a decent public education. If Kathy Hochul remains in charge after November, who knows what tyranny will be unleashed.

She’s acting outside of her authority as Governor, she’s actively violating NYS civil rights law, not just defying the Supreme Court,
This excuse for a woman should read the US Constitution and the second amendment that also says shall not be infringed. That means not hindered in any way. If she was confronted with a person with a gun she could say you can not do that as she is being shot. What stops a person with a gun is another person that will shoot back.
She already signed a new gun law within days of the Supreme Court making its ruling on CC. Thus nullifying the intent of the Supreme Court ruling in NY state. The new process is designed to be more expensive, much more tedious and detailed to solve the issue the Supreme Court ruled on and deliver the same result. Which is virtually no one, but a few very wealthy and politically-connected individuals will ever have a CC permit in NY state. I fully expect every Democrat run state in the country will quickly mirror this law in their own state.
As for getting rid of Governor Hochul this November, that is at best a coin toss. NY state is a deep blue Democrat state and given the recent election of yet another progressive Democrat as Mayor of New York City recently, it is clear most Democrats in the state haven’t experienced enough pain and suffering yet to actually vote for anyone who is NOT a Democrat.

We need a law that makes it a felony to create a rule or law that is found unconstitutional. Any elected person or person paid by the government who creates or enforces should be guilty of a felony.
Isn’t it weird that the democrats are screaming about abortion being a constitutional right (while it isn’t) at the same time they are trying to take away actual constitutional rights.

They violate every ORDER rendered by the US Supreme Court when they intentionally violate the US Constitution (Roe vs. Wade, red flag mandates suppressing the 2nd Amendment, prohibited the freedom of religion with illegal mandates during Covid from governors to the pretender in the White House). Additionally, they deny protection to the Supreme Court Judges from domestic liberal radicals as guaranteed by the constitution. Their goon squads, BLM and Antifa, rule the streets of American when so directed to with riots, under the pretense of “peaceful demonstrations” destroying property, intimidating and injuring anyone in their way with immunity (exactly the way the of the Nazi Sturmabteilung (SA) committed “Kristallnacht”, acceptable destructive acts against the Jews in Germany 9-10 November 1938). Their henchmen in the Department of Justice investigate and arrest concerned parents as “domestic terrorists”, yet, deny or investigate a list of clients (Hollywood liberals, political individuals) exists which would implicating them in financing Epstein’s sex bordello consisting of minors (of course a list exists, how did the convict his girlfriend is the wasn’t a list of clients?).

Shut up and sit down! You the law abiding, tax paying citizen, are not among the chosen. They are the home invaders, bodega,thieves, arsonists, gang bangers, subway rapists,and degfenerates, Hochul, and her dem pals love and protect. At. Some point I hope she and her ilk, find the voters and the constitution are stronger than they are.
Gov. Hochul of New York has signed restrictive gun control measures that obviously hurt law-abiding citizens, an arrogant assault on the 2nd Amendment despite the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling overturning the state’s archaic concealed-carry gun law. This action clearly undermines the authority of our nation’s highest court. It flies in the face of the rule of law when a politician imposes new laws defying a legal court decision they disagree with. This cannot be allowed to stand. It’s one thing if the President were to ask Congress to amend a law to make it compatible with the Constitution; it’s an entirely different matter when a governor deliberately tries to thwart the ruling of a federal court because they don’t like a judicial decision affecting their state. Steps should and must be taken to block New York from implementing these draconian and unreasonable firearm regulations.
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that New York’s concealed-carry law is unconstitutional and violates the 2nd Amendment rights of its citizens. Gov. Hochul and the Legislature should not have the final say in this matter. To allow the governor that advantage simply erodes the integrity of our justice system and the authority of the High Court, rendering its ruling “moot.”
