No one likes to type ultra-long messages; thus, abbreviations (a shorthand of sorts) have taken social media and texts by storm. Here are some of the most popular that people may use and their most common meanings:

ABT – About

ASAP – As soon as possible

ATM – At the moment

BAE – Before anyone else (or babe as in girlfriend/boyfriend)

BDAY – Birthday

B4N – By for now

BFF – Best friends forever

BRB – Be right back

CYT – See you tomorrow

DIY – Do it yourself

DM – Direct message

EMBM – Early morning business meeting

ETA – Estimated time of arrival

FB- Facebook

FOMO – Fear of missing out

FR – For real

GG – Good game

GL – Good luck

GM – Good morning

GN – Good night

GOAT – Greatest of all times

IDC – I don’t care

IDK – I don’t know

ILY – I love you

IMHO – In my honest/humble opinion

IMO – In my opinion

LOL – Laughing out loud

NP – No Problem

NSFW – Not safe for work (inappropriate to look at during work hours)
