America is a beautiful place to live and visit. After all, her National and State Parks are truly unique, possessing a diversity of landscape, history, and character, and drawing sightseers from near and far. U.S. cities are also exciting, each offering unique vibes and experiences. Likewise, there are many worthy international travel destinations that will leave travelers in awe. Here are three cities worth visiting:

  1. Prague – This capital city and largest city of the Czech Republic is brimming with history. The city served as residence of several Holy Roman Emperors, including Charles IV. Not only is Prague considered to be the historic, political, cultural, and economic center of central Europe, but it is full of exciting sites for tourists to explore. This includes Prague Castle, Old Town Square, Prague astronomical clock, St. Vitus Cathedral, the Jewish Quarter, the Charles Bridge, Dancing House (modern office block by Frank Gehry with top floor restaurant), Wenceslas Square (city plaza), Nàrodni Museum (Grand Museum of science & history), Vyšehrad (fortified castle) and more. The Vltava River flows through the center of the city and nearby buildings feature various architectural styles including Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque. The city also features modern transportation, walking tours and boat cruises, food experiences and more.
  2. Nice – This fabulous seaport city sits on the glamorous French Riviera and is the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes department. It was founded by the Greeks and became a retreat for 19th Century European elite. Today, tourists are attracted to the deep blue waters of this Cote d’Azur city and are swept away by the charm of historic Old Town. Highlights of Nice include a visit to Marché aux Fleurs Cours Saleya (a flea and street market), Castle Hill (offering views), Marc Chagall National Museum, Opera de Nice, Place Massena (a beautiful city square), Cathederale Saint-Nicolas a Nice, Jardin du Monastère de Cimiez (a spectacular garden), Promenades des Anglais (a famous street along the stunning Mediterranean waterfront) and more. While there, enjoy Provençal gastronomy particular to this region.
  3. Barcelona – This top-rated city for tourism is considered one of the most beautiful of the world. It is situated in the Catalonia Region on the Eastern Coast of Spain. Folks who visit this capital city are generally in awe of the architecture, some of which is best described as whimsical and quirky. Architect Anthony Gaudi’s buildings are most memorable and express Catalan Modernism. His main work is the church of the Sagrada Familia, where in 1914, he began working exclusively on the Temple. Unfortunately, the bell tower dedication to the apostle Barnabas was the only one he would see finished as he died in 1926. However, his contributions are considered remarkable. Not to be missed are Park Güell, Casa Milà (art nouveau period building that hosts exhibitions), Casa Batlló (dragon roofed museum), La Rambla (notable street), Mercado de La Boqueria (market), Picasso Museum, Cathedral of Barcelona, Palau del la Música Catalana (art nouveau concert hall) and more. Be sure to visit one of the many famous tapas bars while in town.

Though there are many great places to see in the USA, it’s awesome to expand one’s travels to include genuinely old European cities with historic charm. This mini sampling truly demonstrates unique beauty and diversity among them, all featuring must-see sites. If international history and culture plus great food and hospitality inspire you, then a trip to one of these amazing European cities is just your thing.
