He’s the conservative “rock” star Republican Senate candidate being virtually ignored by the leftist media, but he could very well win in what would be a stunning victory that would “turn heads.” The national media has all but given the GOP one pick-up in red Alabama with the all but certain defeat of Democrat Doug Jones. Similarly, pundits are predicting possible losses of three GOP incumbents in Maine, Arizona, and North Carolina, none of which is certain of course. But Michigan could surprise everyone. The incumbent Senator is Gary Peters, one of only two Democrats trying to win re-election in a state Donald Trump won in 2016 (the other is Jones). Polls show a dead heat, likely because James ran against Senator Debbie Stabenow in 2018 and thus already has statewide name recognition.
James received his B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and earned a Master of Supply Chain Management and Information Systems from Penn State and an MBA from the University of Michigan. James served in the U.S. Army from 2004 before being honorably discharged in 2012. That year he joined James Group International, a global supply chain management service company, where his father was the CEO. He eventually became president of the company before later becoming CEO of Renaissance Global Logistics.
John James is a solid conservative who described himself as “a pro-life, pro-second amendment, pro-business conservative” in his 2018 campaign. His 2020 campaign website reintroduces himself to Michigan voters as “a soldier, job-creator, and patriot. From the boardroom to the battlefield, John has proven that he will work with anyone and everyone in order to complete the mission. John believes in Faith and Family, God and Country and is committed to defending the American dream and expanding access to it.” John James resides in Farmington Hills, MI with his wife Liz and their three sons.
